Congressman Ford to keynote 15th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Interfaith breakfast
Congressman Harold Ford, Jr., representative of the ninth district of Tennessee, will deliver the keynote address during the 15th Annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Interfaith Breakfast. Congressman Ford, who delivered the keynote address at the 2000 Democratic National Convention, was elected at the age of 26 to the House of Representatives, and was re-elected in 1998 by more than 80% of the vote.
Congressman Ford, who's main priority in Congress is improving education, introduced 'The Make College Affordable Act of 1999' to help working families meet the rising cost of higher of higher education. In addition, Congressman Ford will to work to secure final passage of the comprehensive Patient's Bill of Rights, which he helped pass through the House last fall. Other legislative priorities include repairing school buildings, protecting the long-term health of Social Security, adding a prescription drug benefit to Medicare and taking guns out of the hands of criminals and children.
