The Crisis Center for South Suburbia is
seeking volunteers to wrap hundreds of donated Christmas gifts for women
and children in the community whose lives have been touched by domestic
violence.
Gift-wrapping will be from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. the weeks of December 11 and 18 at Citibank, 174th Street and Oak
Park Avenue, in Tinley Park.
Family violence is a tragedy any time of
the year, but especially during the holidays. Christmas is a time when
people traditionally count their blessings and celebrate the warmth and
security of family and friends. Crisis Center client's homes are neither
warm nor safe, and homelessness is a better choice than fear. A volunteer's
gift of time assures the women and children that they can count one blessing
this Christmas--the warmth and caring of their community family.
The Crisis Center for South Suburbia is
the nonprofit agency providing emergency shelter and services to victims
of domestic violence in the south and southwest communities of Cook County.
The organization provides a women and children's shelter, a 24-hour crisis
intervention hotline, Neat Repeats Resale Shoppe in Worth, job coaching
and court advocacy programs, and children's programs.
Call 429-7255, Ext. 24, to volunteer for
Christmas gift-wrapping or other Crisis Center programs.
