Joseph Berrios, Maureen Murphy and Robert

Shaw, Commissioners of the Cook County Board of Review, have announced

the dates for filing assessment appeal complaints by property owners in

Bloom Township. The filing dates for property assessment appeals Open on

Friday, December 29, 2000 and will Close on Monday, January 29, 2001.

Owners of homes, condominiums, townhouses,

apartment buildings and businesses may appeal their assessments to the

Board if they feel that their assessment is too high. A lawyer is not required

to file an appeal on behalf of a residential property owner.

Evidence which can be particularly helpful

to the homeowner seeking an assessment reduction includes any of the following

items: a photo of the taxpayers property; proof of recent sale prices of

homes similar to the home of the taxpayer who is appealing; a real estate

appraisal, if available; assessed valuations of comparable properties in

your neighborhood; and evidence of flood, fire, demolition, or structural

damage.

Anyone interested in receiving an assessment

appeal complaint form can write the Cook County Board of Appeals, Room

601, 118 North Clark, Chicago, Il 60602 or call (312)443-5542. Appeal complaint

forms can also be picked up in person at the Board, or at one of the satellite

offices; Bridgeview - (708)974-6074, 10200 South 76th Ave.,

Room 237 Bridgeview, IL 60455

Markham - (708)210-4116, 16501 Kedzie,

Room 237 Markham, IL 60427.

Property owners in the township mentioned

above have until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2001 to file assessment

appeal complaints. The Board will then notify the taxpayer of a hearing

date when they will be able to argue on behalf of their request for a lower

property tax assessment.

Anyone interested in more information or

with questions regarding the appeals process should call the Board at (312)603-5542.
