This is what happens when Downtown Daley/Madigan political despots give
their marching orders to oppress and dictate what happens in Chicago Heights
or other communities of color without regard to their wishes. We have letters
flooding the Black community by an alleged friend of Blacks, but
in reality a bigot in Democratic clothes. This type of scullduggery is
similar to the late racist Senator Bilbo, George C. Wallace,
or today's Clint Lott of Mississippi. Sully's name should be known in every
home for what he is, an enemy of Black people and people of good will.
Representative Scully's complete disregard for the Black community in
Chicago Heights can be demonstrated on two occasions.
On September, 1998, the Bloom/Rich Committee to Re-Elect John H Stroger,
Jr. held a reception at the Hacienda Inn Hotel. Representative Scully had
a special initiation sent to him requesting his presence. This was followed
by a phone call and finally a reminder via fax. What was his response?
Representative Scully ignored the invitation and only showed up in shorts
as Mr. Stroger was leaving. When asked why, he reported that he was at
an Art Fair and that was important.
Chicago Heights Mayor Ciambrone snubbed the affair, because he also
arrived after the affair when President Stroger was leaving. Scully was
informed by the mayor's assistance who was sent in to monitor the affair
and Democratic Bloom Township operative Leon Norwood who seen snooping
around.
The second insult to the Black community occurred when his office liaison
person Sheila Hightower ran for Alderman for the 4th Ward. This bigot has
the nerve to support not Sheila, but Dave Zarante, a Republican. Sheila
and the Representative are Democrats.
He also urged the reelection of the incumbent who has fought the voting
rights case against the city. The two Black Alderman, McCoy and Kevin Perkins
are the ones who are fighting to see that equal representation is instituted
in a city which has the representation of being racist and reactionary
against African Americans and Latinos.
