The Christopher Art Gallery of Prairie

State College and the Chicago Southland Visual Arts Coalition will present

the fourth annual Art Trek on October 12-15. School groups and community

organizations are invited to plan a field trip to take advantage of this

unique opportunity.

During Art trek, the best-known artists

of the south suburbs will exhibit their work in local galleries and open

their studios to the public, free of charge. This gives budding artists

and art lovers the opportunity to see professional artists at work, gain

insight into the creative process and ask questions of professional artists.

This year's event is being expanded to

include a total of 17 galleries and artists' studios located in Chicago

Heights, University Park, Park Forest, South Holland, Flossmoor, Tinley

Park, Beecher, Palo Hills, Crete, Ford Heights and Blue Island. An event

brochure outlining participating organizations and planned exhibitions

and demonstrations will be available this fall.

2000 activities, contact Karen LeLuga at Union Street Gallery, (708) 754-2601.
