CHICAGO -- Jewel-Osco announced the promotion
of Cheryl Nolan to Midwest Regional Manager, Government & Community
Affairs.
"With over 30 years of experience, Cheryl's
knowledge and experience will be an asset in our handling of community
outreach and governmental affairs activities," said President Pete Van
Helden.
As Midwest Regional Manager, Government
& Community Affairs, Ms Nolan will represent Jewel-Osco in governmental
issues at the local, state and federal levels, as well as coordinate the
Midwest Region Community Outreach Programs. She will report to Mike DePaola,
Jewel-Osco Vice President of Government & Community Affairs at the
Midwest headquarters in Melrose Park, IL.
"Cheryl is an excellent choice to spearhead
our company's Midwest community and governmental efforts," said Mr. DePaola
of Jewel-Osco. "She has all the skills necessary to do an exceptional job.
She understands the community and her knowledge of handling frontline issues
will give her a heightened advantage."
Nolan most recently served as the Manager,
Employee & College Relations for Jewel-Osco stores in Chicagoland and
Milwaukee. In that position, Nolan had the responsibility of coordinating
college campus and career fairs, recruitment and training efforts and programs
that addressed employment issues.
Nolan is a graduate of Illinois Benedictine,
serves on the board of the Workforce Investment Council and the Cosmopolitan
Chamber of Commerce. She also volunteers for a philanthropic group of African
American Women. Nolan currently resides in the western suburbs with her
husband and she enjoys spending time with her new grandson and members
of her family.
Jewel-Osco is a Midwest retailer operating
both combination food and drug stores and freestanding drug stores. Of
the retailer's 276 locations, 193 are combination Jewel-Osco stores and
83 are freestanding Osco Drug Stores. Jewel-Osco is the Midwest Region
of Albertson's Inc., which is headquartered in Boise, Idaho. Albertson's
is one of the largest food-drug chains in the United States and currently
operates 2,500 stores in 37 states.
