Cook County Forest Preserve District Board
President John Stroger has invited all winter revelers to come frolic in
the snow as the Forest Preserve District of Cook County holds its 10th
Annual Winter Festivals.
"We are proud to offer this free winter
event and invite all families to participate in safe, post-holiday fun,"
said Stroger. "Children of all ages are encouraged to come out and enjoy
our winter wonderlands."
The Winter Festival dates, locations, and
times are as follows:
* Sunday, January 14, 2001, at Jensen Slides,
located at Milwaukee and Devon, Chicago from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.;
* Saturday, January 20, 2001, at Swallow
Cliff Toboggan Slides, located at Mannheim Road & Route 83, west of
Palos Park, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.; and
* Saturday, January 27, 2001, at Dan Ryan
Woods, located at 87th & Western, Chicago, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
(Note: Dan Ryan Woods toboggan slides are closed for the season.)
Guests at each Winter Festival will enjoy
a nature scavenger hunt, a bird feeding workshop, balloon sculptures, K-9
unit demonstrations, log-cutting demonstrations, a magic show, sleigh rides,
and ski demonstrations. Admission is free and refreshments are available
for purchase.
