Martin and Lois Anthonisen, the owners of Anthonisen Financial Services

in Homewood, collected funds for an annual Prairie State College scholarship

at a party for their clients.

The Dr. Timothy and Debbora Lightfield Returning Scholarship will award

$500 this year to three students majoring in business, economics, finance,

computer sciences, or a related major. Former Prairie State College president

Dr. Timonty Lightfield recruited Lois Anthonisen to serve on the board

of the Prairie State College Foundation because of her expertise in the

area of charitable giving, which was a main concern of Lightfield=s,

especially in relation to PSC=s

students.

AIt is our goal,@

said Mrs. Anthonisen, Ato honor

Tim and Debbora=s commitment

to returning adult students with this recruiting annual scholarship.@

AThis was a very unique approach

to help fund a scholarship,@

said Manny Hoffman, President of the Prairie State College Foundation.

AIt was a great opportunity for

someone who owns a company to collect donations for a worthy cause and

a very commendable act by the Anthonisens to help members of their community.@

Hoffman said, AIndividuals

or businesses can establish naming scholarships to honor their company,

employees, or family members.@
