South Holland, IL - The South Suburban
College Foundation is again making scholarships available to study abroad
in three diverse locations.
The foundation recently voted to approve
nearly $10,000 is scholarship funding to be used in the college's International
Studies Program. These funds have been earmarked for scholarships to study
in Africa, Holland and Cost Rica.
The scholarships will be awarded on a competitive
basis, with factors such as students' grade-point averages, writing skills,
and personal interviews.
Albert Jackson, co-chair of the International
and Intercultural Studies Committee at South Suburban along with Sangeeta
Kumar, commented that "The School and the Foundation are taking great initiative
in providing students the means to experience life and study from an intercultural
background.
"Today's job market is throughly internationalized.
Those with first-hand international experience will find themselves in
great demand," Jackson added.
Foundation Executive Director Arline Fantin
agrees with Jackson, stating that " The student body at South Suburban
College is already an excellent portrait of ethnic and cultural diversity.
We are thrilled to be able to provide the means to further broaden the
students' horizons."
